Terms of Use

A reference for professionals, on plain terms.

Effective September 21, 2026 · Applies to the Sig app for iPhone and iPad and to get-sig.app

These terms are the agreement between you and HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC, the company that publishes Sig, for your use of the Sig app and this website. They say who Sig is for, what it is and is not, how it is licensed, and what each of us is responsible for. They include the terms Apple requires of every app distributed through the App Store, and an arbitration agreement with a class-action waiver that you can opt out of within 30 days.

1. Acceptance and who may use Sig

By downloading, installing, or using the Sig app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”), including TestFlight beta builds, or by using the website at get-sig.app (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Sig.

These terms are a binding contract between you and HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC, an Arkansas limited liability company (the “Company”, “Harris Clinical Software”, “we”, “us”, “our”). The Company is the publisher of Sig, the seller of record on the App Store, and the only party to this agreement on our side. Section 14 explains what that means for the people who work on Sig.

Section 18 contains a binding arbitration agreement and a class-action waiver. They affect how any dispute between us is resolved, and they mean you give up the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days by emailing us, and opting out costs you nothing else in this agreement.

Sig is designed for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students and residents, and other licensed healthcare professionals practicing in the United States. You must be at least 18 years old, and by using Sig you represent that you are a healthcare professional or student acting within the scope of your training and licensure. Sig is not intended for patients or for the general public, and it is not a substitute for talking to a pharmacist or physician.

2. Sig is a reference, not advice

Sig provides drug and clinical reference information to support the professional judgment of trained clinicians. It does not provide medical advice, does not diagnose or treat anyone, and does not create a clinician–patient relationship with you or with anyone whose care you are involved in.

Every calculation, dose adjustment, antimicrobial recommendation, and reference entry in Sig is decision support. You are responsible for verifying it against current prescribing information, primary literature, institutional protocols, and the specific circumstances of the patient before acting on it. Calculators show their inputs, formulas, and citations so that you can check them; do so. Where Sig and the FDA-approved labeling or your institution's policy disagree, the labeling and the policy control.

You are the learned intermediary. Sig does not exercise clinical judgment and cannot know the patient in front of you. Any clinical decision made after consulting Sig is your decision, made in the exercise of your own professional judgment and under your own licensure, and you accept that responsibility. You assume the risk of using Sig in patient care, including the risk that a source Sig quotes is itself wrong, out of date, or inapplicable to your patient.

Sig is not a medical device and has not been reviewed or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The App is offered as general reference and educational software for healthcare professionals, in the same category as printed drug references, and is intended to fall within the scope of section 520(o)(1)(E) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and the FDA's guidance on clinical decision support software: it displays and organizes published medical information and the basis for every recommendation, so that a healthcare professional can independently review that basis rather than rely primarily on Sig.

3. Patient information

Do not enter information that identifies a patient (names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, photographs of people, and the like) anywhere in Sig. Clinical values you enter to run a calculation stay on your device and are not transmitted to us (see the Privacy Policy). Sig is not a system of record: it does not store patient encounters, and it must not be used as one. You remain responsible for complying with HIPAA, state privacy law, and your employer's policies when you use any tool in the course of patient care.

Because Sig is not designed to receive protected health information and we do not ask for it, we are not a covered entity or a business associate under HIPAA and we do not enter into business associate agreements. If you enter patient-identifying information into Sig anyway, you do so in breach of these terms and at your own risk, and section 15 applies.

4. Content, sources, and review status

Sig's content is assembled from public sources and pharmacist-written overlays. We want you to know how it is made:

  • Label first. Drug information starts from FDA-approved labeling obtained from DailyMed and openFDA. Where practice diverges from the label, the divergence is called out and cited rather than blended in.
  • Cited. Calculators, dose adjustment rules, antimicrobial guidance, and curated notes cite the guideline, label, or primary publication they rely on, so that you can read the source yourself and judge it.
  • Written by a pharmacist. Sig's clinical content is written and reviewed by a licensed pharmacist acting for the Company. That pharmacist is not your pharmacist and is not involved in the care of your patients.
  • Marked while in review. Content labeled “In Development” has not yet been cleared by a named reviewer. Treat it with corresponding care.
  • Dated. Every bundled data set shows the date it was last reviewed on the About & Sources screen. High-risk content is re-reviewed at least every six months, and a data set past its review date says so in the App.
  • Live data can change. Labels, prices, shortages, and codes fetched from public services reflect what those services returned at the moment of the request and may lag or contain errors originating at the source. We do not control those services and are not responsible for what they return.

We work hard to keep Sig accurate, but medicine changes daily and errors are possible. We do not warrant that any content is accurate, complete, or current. If you find an error, tell us (section 11). We publish corrections.

5. License

Subject to these terms, the Company grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's App Store Terms of Service, and to use the Site for its intended purpose. The App is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by the Company. This license is between you and HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC, not Apple.

6. Terms required by Apple

Because the App is distributed through Apple's App Store, Apple requires the following terms, which apply in addition to the rest of this agreement:

  1. Acknowledgement. This agreement is between you and HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC only, not Apple. HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the App.
  2. Scope of license. The license in section 5 is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the App Store Terms of Service, except that the App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing where those features apply.
  3. Maintenance and support. The Company is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App, as specified in these terms or as required by applicable law.
  4. Warranty. The Company is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are the Company's sole responsibility.
  5. Product claims. The Company, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
  6. Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights, the Company, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
  7. Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer contact. HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC, Arkansas, United States, support@get-sig.app, for questions, complaints, or claims about the App.
  9. Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the App, including the terms of the public data services listed in the Privacy Policy.
  10. Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and upon your acceptance of it Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce it against you as a third-party beneficiary.

7. Sig Pro subscriptions

Sig's core is free: every monograph, every calculator, Dose Adjustment, Antibiotic Selection, identification tools, conditions, guidelines, codes, search, and the safety content within them. We intend to keep it free. Sig Pro, when it launches, will be an optional auto-renewing subscription for workflow features such as the Patient Workup, Ask Sig, watchlists with alerts, cross-device sync, and exports. When it does, these terms apply:

  • No account is required, then or ever. Subscribing does not create an account with us and does not ask you to sign in. Apple records the entitlement against the Apple Account that bought it, and the App reads it on any device signed in to that account, so a subscription follows you across your devices without any action on your part.
  • Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through In-App Purchase. The price and billing period are shown in the App before you subscribe, and any free trial is stated with its length.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings under your Apple ID › Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy; we cannot issue them.
  • Pro features unlock automatically on any device signed in to the same Apple Account. Restore Purchases is available in the App if a device does not pick the entitlement up on its own.
  • We may change Pro pricing or contents for future periods; changes never affect a period you have already paid for, and Apple notifies you of price increases before they take effect.

8. User content

Sig's roadmap includes anonymous practice comments on monographs. When that feature launches, the following applies to anything you post (“User Content”):

  • You keep ownership of your User Content and grant the Company a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and moderate it within Sig for as long as it remains posted.
  • User Content must not include patient information, must be your own or used with permission, and must not be unlawful, harassing, deceptive, promotional, or clinically reckless. Comments are visually distinct from sourced content and never become part of Sig's clinical reference.
  • User Content is the opinion of the person who posted it. The Company does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for it, and you must not rely on it in patient care.
  • We provide tools to report and block, we filter objectionable content, we act on reports within 24 hours, and we remove content and eject users who abuse the feature. We may remove any User Content at our discretion.
  • We retain an opaque Apple-provided identifier with each post solely to honor reports, blocks, and takedowns.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Sig to make decisions about a patient without applying your own professional judgment, or represent Sig's output as medical advice to a patient;
  • use Sig outside the scope of your professional training, licensure, or supervision;
  • copy, redistribute, sell, sublicense, rent, or make Sig or its content available to third parties, except for ordinary sharing of a monograph link;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or bundled data sets of the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
  • use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access Sig or, through Sig, the public services it queries in a way that violates their terms;
  • interfere with the security or operation of Sig, or attempt to access data you are not authorized to access;
  • use Sig in violation of any law, your professional license, or your employer's policies.

10. Intellectual property and third-party data

The App, the Site, and Sig's original content (including its structured fields, curated notes, rule sets, design, and the Sig name and logo) are owned by HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Sig and the Sig logo are marks of HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC; you may not use them without permission.

Much of what Sig shows comes from public sources: FDA labeling and data from DailyMed and openFDA; RxNorm, RxClass, ClinicalTrials.gov, LactMed, and other National Library of Medicine resources; NADAC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; and clinical practice guidelines from the professional societies that publish them. Works of the United States Government are in the public domain; other sources remain the property of their owners and are used under their terms, which you must also respect. Some clinical instruments are copyrighted by their authors; Sig lists such instruments by name with a link to the source and does not reproduce them. Drug brand names are trademarks of their respective manufacturers. Apple, iPhone, iPad, Mac, App Store, and TestFlight are trademarks of Apple Inc.

If you believe material in Sig infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to support@get-sig.app identifying the work, the material, your contact information, and the statements the DMCA requires. We remove or disable infringing material promptly on a valid notice.

11. Feedback and error reports

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or error reports, whether by email, TestFlight, or the App's Report a Problem feature, you agree that we may use them without restriction or compensation to improve Sig, and that you claim no ownership or confidentiality in what you send. Reported content errors are reviewed by a pharmacist, and fixes are listed in a public corrections changelog by date without identifying who reported them.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

SIG IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY AND THE COVERED PARTIES DEFINED IN SECTION 14 DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE CONTENT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR SECURE. NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM US CREATES A WARRANTY. WE DISCLAIM ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONTENT OF THE THIRD-PARTY AND GOVERNMENT DATA SERVICES SIG QUERIES. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC NOR ANY COVERED PARTY DEFINED IN SECTION 14 WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, BUSINESS, REPUTATION, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, MISDIAGNOSIS, MEDICATION ERROR, OR CLINICAL OUTCOME ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON SIG WITHOUT INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL VERIFICATION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE SIG, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CLAIM SOUNDS IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, PRODUCT LIABILITY, STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER THEORY.

THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF THE COMPANY AND ALL COVERED PARTIES FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO SIG WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID THE COMPANY FOR SIG IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50). THIS CAP IS AGGREGATE ACROSS ALL CLAIMS AND ALL COVERED PARTIES AND IS NOT MULTIPLIED BY THE NUMBER OF CLAIMS OR CLAIMANTS.

These limits are an essential basis of the bargain: Sig's core is offered free of charge, and without these limits the Company could not offer it at all. They apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Time limit. Any claim arising out of or relating to Sig or these terms must be brought within one year after the claim arises, or it is permanently barred, except where applicable law forbids shortening the limitations period.

14. The company is the only party

Your agreement is with HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC alone. No individual is a party to it.

HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC is a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Arkansas. Its members, managers, officers, employees, contractors, advisors, reviewers, and agents (together with the Company, the “Covered Parties”) act on behalf of the Company when they work on Sig. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and consistent with the rule that the debts, obligations, and liabilities of a limited liability company are those of the company alone and do not become the personal obligations of its members or managers:

  • No Covered Party other than the Company has any personal liability to you under or in connection with these terms, Sig, or its content.
  • You agree to bring any claim arising out of or relating to Sig solely against the Company, and not against any individual, and you waive any claim against any individual Covered Party to the extent the law allows that waiver.
  • Your sole recourse is against the assets of the Company, and the disclaimers, limits, cap, time limit, and arbitration agreement in these terms apply equally and in full to every Covered Party, each of whom is an intended third-party beneficiary of this agreement and may enforce it.
  • Nothing in this section limits liability that the law does not permit to be limited, including liability for a Covered Party's own fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, and nothing here is intended to waive any protection the law already gives.

Apart from Apple (section 6), the public data providers, and the Covered Parties, there are no third-party beneficiaries of this agreement.

15. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless HARRIS CLINICAL SOFTWARE LLC and every Covered Party from and against all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs of defense) arising from or relating to: your User Content; your violation of these terms; your violation of any law, professional obligation, or third party's rights; your entry of patient-identifying information into Sig; and any use of Sig by you in the care of a patient, including any claim brought by a patient, an employer, a payer, or a licensing authority. We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with that defense. This obligation survives termination.

16. Termination

You may stop using Sig at any time by deleting the App. We may suspend or terminate your access to features that depend on our services (such as comments), or discontinue Sig entirely, at any time and without liability. Sections 2, 3, 6, and 10 through 19 survive termination.

17. Changes

We may update these terms as Sig changes, and always before a feature these terms describe as planned actually ships. The effective date at the top identifies the current version, and material changes will be noted in the App's release notes and surfaced in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, stop using Sig. Apple's required terms in section 6 will not be weakened. A change to section 18 does not apply to a dispute of which we had notice before the change.

18. Disputes, arbitration, and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration rather than in court, waives your right to a jury trial, and waives your right to participate in a class action. You may opt out within 30 days (subsection e) and everything else in this agreement still applies to you unchanged.

a. Talk to us first

Before starting an arbitration or a lawsuit, you agree to give us a chance to fix the problem. Email support@get-sig.app with your name, a description of the dispute, and the relief you want, and give us 30 days to respond. We will do the same before bringing a claim against you. This step is a condition of starting a proceeding, and the limitations period in section 13 is paused while it runs.

b. Agreement to arbitrate

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and the Company agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to Sig, these terms, the Privacy Policy, or our relationship, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, product liability, statute, fraud, misrepresentation, or any other legal theory, and whether arising before, during, or after this agreement ends, will be resolved by binding individual arbitration and not in court. This agreement to arbitrate is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 1–16, and evidences a transaction in interstate commerce.

Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by this section, before a single arbitrator. The rules and forms are at adr.org. The arbitrator decides all issues except that a court decides the enforceability of subsection c (the class-action waiver). The arbitrator may award any relief a court could award to that individual claimant, must apply these terms, and must issue a reasoned written decision. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction. The arbitration will be held in the county where you live, by telephone or video, or by written submissions, at your choice; you will not have to travel to Arkansas. The Company will pay filing, administration, and arbitrator fees as the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules require, and will pay your share of those fees for any non-frivolous claim under US$10,000.

c. Class-action and jury-trial waiver

YOU AND THE COMPANY EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY AND THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. Claims may be brought only in an individual capacity. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of class or representative proceeding, and may award relief only to the individual party seeking it and only to the extent necessary to provide relief on that party's own claim.

This subsection c is not severable from subsection b: if a court finds the class-action waiver unenforceable or invalid as to a particular claim or request for relief, then that claim or request must be brought in court and severed from any arbitration, and the rest of this section still applies to every other claim.

Coordinated filings. If 25 or more similar claims are asserted against the Company by or with the help of the same or coordinated counsel, the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply, the claims will be resolved in staged batches of no more than 50, and the limitations period is paused for the unfiled claims while the batches proceed.

d. What is not covered

Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court in a court of competent jurisdiction, and either of us may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Nothing in this section prevents you from reporting a concern to a government agency, a licensing board, or the FDA, or limits rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place where you live that cannot be waived by agreement.

e. How to opt out of arbitration

You may reject this arbitration agreement by emailing support@get-sig.app with the subject line Arbitration Opt-Out within 30 days of the date you first accept these terms, stating your name and that you opt out. That is all it takes; there is no form and no fee. If you opt out, subsections b and c do not apply to you, the rest of this agreement applies unchanged, and opting out will never be held against you or affect your use of Sig.

f. Governing law and courts

These terms and any dispute between us are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable U.S. federal law, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs subsection b. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and the Company consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Arkansas, except where the law of the place where you live gives you a non-waivable right to sue there.

19. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the Company about Sig and replace any earlier understanding. You have not relied on any statement, promise, or representation not written in them.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it is modified to the least extent needed to make it enforceable, or severed if it cannot be, and the rest stays in force, except as subsection 18(c) provides for itself.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these terms. The Company may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
  • Notice. We give notice through the App, the Site, or the email address you used to contact us. You give notice to the address in section 20.
  • Force majeure. Neither of us is liable for a failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, including outages at Apple or at the public data services Sig queries.
  • Relationship. Nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, agency, or clinician–patient relationship between you and the Company.
  • Export and government use. You may not use Sig in violation of U.S. export laws. Sig is commercial computer software; U.S. Government users acquire it with only the rights granted here.
